Navodno preko 66% žena generalno smatra crnu boju na muškarcu iznimno seksi. Crnina dakako povezuje se i sa sprovodima i smrću. Crna boja dakle u zapadnim kulturama izaziva i pozitivne i negativne emocije. Nijanse crne boje nazivamo i tamna boja tinte, ugljena, mračna, zagasita i oniks. Ljubičasta ili bordo boja u prirodi se pojavljuje vrlo rijetko. Predstavlja moć i otmjenost jer ju je nekad nosilo plemstvo i kraljevske obitelji, u grimiznoj, bordo nijansi.
