Crna boja dakle u zapadnim kulturama izaziva i pozitivne i negativne emocije. Nijanse crne boje nazivamo i tamna boja tinte, ugljena, mračna, zagasita i oniks. Ljubičasta ili bordo boja u prirodi se pojavljuje vrlo rijetko. Predstavlja moć i otmjenost jer ju je nekad nosilo plemstvo i kraljevske obitelji, u grimiznoj, bordo nijansi. Pri odijevanju ljubičastu je poželjno stoga izbjegavati u slučaju kada na nekog želite ostaviti estetski dojam jednostavne, pristupačne i ležerne osobe. Slično vrijedi i za izlaske i spojeve pri čemu se preporučaju prije svega ljubičasti detalji umjesto potpuno ljubičaste odjevne kombinacije. Ljubičasta u sebi nosti smirenu stabilnost plave i vruću energiju crvene boje. Ljubičasta asocira na mudrost, bogatstvo, ambiciju, magiju, ekstravagantnost, rafiniranost, misterioznost i umijeće posvećivanja te spiritualnosti. Previše ljubičaste može izazvati dojam arogancije i iritiranost. Nalazimo ju i kao grimiznu boju, boju lavande, orhideje i ljubičica.
