Crna je neutralna, tamna boja koju je moguće kombinirati s bilo kojom drugom bojom, a svim ostalim bojama daje dubinu. Crna boja odražava eleganciju, ozbiljnost i formalni stil, a pri odijevanju osobu čini mršavijom, ali i starijom nego što zapravo jest. Kad je riječ o odjeći, obući i stylingu crna boja najčešće se psihološki percipira kao izraz privlačnosti, inteligencije i visokog samopouzdanja. Navodno preko 66% žena generalno smatra crnu boju na muškarcu iznimno seksi. Crnina dakako povezuje se i sa sprovodima i smrću. Crna boja dakle u zapadnim kulturama izaziva i pozitivne i negativne emocije. Nijanse crne boje nazivamo i tamna boja tinte, ugljena, mračna, zagasita i oniks.
